Conversations Out Of ChAoS
by Imeh Smith

This is a whimsical, zany, book with loveable characters.  Imaginatively funny with thought provoking concepts, suspense, tragedy, and spirituality all mixed in such a way, that it really makes you think and analyze the message even if you don't agree with it, and still keep you laughing.  It's fun, easy reading for teens and adults alike.  The author’s sarcasm and wit keeps you laughing.  Inspired by her own life, the author is really good at reaching people, young and old, who struggle with belonging and fitting into societies standards.  Although jarring points are placed inside the main character, her childlike innocence keeps it lighthearted.
She relates to people on the fringes of societies and the curious at heart.  As zany as this book is, it provides curious people, who are not very spiritual or religious, Christian insight.  If you were curious but too embarrassed or shy to ask for yourself, the main character asks for you on her quest for answers, help, and miracles, thanks to the voice inside her head.  Many parts of this book are so hilarious and insane; I would love to see it on film.  I can easily see a fusion, mixed with a Bridget Jones Diary featuring A Simple Life/Anna Nicole Smith type portraying the main character.

. . . . . I was a loser and nerd because I wasn’t having sex or playing around by 14.  I believe there were way more virgins and students who never kissed or did foreplay than me.  But no one wanted to admit that they were inexperienced and haven’t had sex yet.  If you did, there was something wrong with you.  You were some sort of religious fanatic or just too ugly and disgusting for anyone to date and have sex with in the first place.  Basically, if you were alone and a virgin, you were -in a nutshell - inexperienced, ugly, and unscrewable.  Welcome to the new age where it’s a curse to be single and a virgin!!!  Wow, we really are progressed!! . . . . .
.
. . . . By this time KiKi was 4 I again had the pleasure of watching her.  Of course she thoroughly enjoyed me watching her because we would play together.  I was more like her friend over a babysitter.  She would ask mom, "Where is your little girl?", referring to me.  Well she wanted some popcorn.  She tricked me and said she knew how to work the microwave and cook the popcorn.  I remember Re cooking popcorn the old style way with oil and a big pot on the stove as a kid.  I thought she was about the same age, 5 or so.  Besides, microwaves are easy, all you do is push buttons.
.
Well she went into the kitchen to cook the popcorn and I didn't follow behind her because I figured she knew how to cook it.  About 6 minutes later I smelt this horrible burnt popcorn smell.  I rush to get the burnt charred popcorn.  She had the microwave set for 20 minutes.  I told her to go out side and eat it because it stunk.  Well, when my aunt and Re returned home, they were upset and wondered how a 4-year-old can trick me into letting her make popcorn.
...
I'm still underemployed and poor.  I still have my part time, low paying job at the gym and I got another part time, embarrassing job as a giant coffee cup for publicity and promotion for this coffee shop.  I would wear this hot costume and pass out flyers on the sidewalks.  I also had this part time job as a dancer (that's why I had the wig) where I make my own schedule and work at will and get paid in tips only.  My purpose living with Re was to help her with rent and KiKi.  Of course when rent was due I was short on cash so I gave Re food stamp for rent, of course she was pleased and I then needed to find another abode.
.
My next abode was with Ms. Anthony, this fat, so-called butch, gay man who cooks very well and sings in falsetto at gay clubs.  He would bring home trade and strays.  One night this dragon came and Anthony gave me his money and told me to hide it in my room.  He didn't trust his company.  At that time, I would always leave my backpack with all of my books, clothes, and car keys in the living room so I can quickly get it when I leave.  I should have used common sense and put my bag in my room after he gave me his money and said he didn't trust the thief.  I was half sleep when he came in so I was thinking less straight than usual - if that’s possible.
.
The next morning the thief cleaned house.  He stole his radio, wine, food, vitamins, my bag, and used my car as a get away.  I immediately called the cops, searched for my friend, and prayed to God for help.  I remember he said the thief lived on Atlanta St.  I searched for over 2 hours, and just when I was about to give up, I prayed again, and BAM, there was the street.  I drove up the street and found my friend, in one piece with a fake tag.  I immediately took my friend and returned Re's car.  She let me use it to find my friend.
.
They say God looks out for the old, babies, and retarded.  I'm not sure where I fall in here but I obvious have angels with me as I unwilling get into all forms of crap.  God and the angels definitely work overtime to hinder the forces of darkness against me.  GOOD LOOKING OUT and JOB WELL DONE!!  I'm not very religious and quite unrighteous, but God always helps me out when I need Him to.  He doesn't answer every prayer and give me everything I want like He's some heavenly flea market, but He helps me out when I'm distressed and when I'm down and out.
.
............When I first got my license, I would skip school and drive around, as I mentioned elsewhere in this book.  I took drivers' education and practiced parking with my dad.  I drove on the highway once during drivers’ education and usually only drove around town.  Once I stupidly decided to get on 495 to go somewhere.  When I tried to merge onto the highway, an 18-wheeler was rushing right behind me to turn the car and me into a pancake.  All I heard was this loud truck horn.   Startled, frozen, and shocked, I simply stared in the rearview as this huge truck rushed toward my back......

• Life is hard when you don't fit in.   Everywhere you seem to go, every guy you seem to meet, and even, every job you seem to land, turns out for the worst.  It seems that way for Lory (pronounced like Lori).  For no matter what she does, she seems to meet the most peculiar sort of characters and get into the most outlandish, ridiculous, dilemmas.   Almost like she can't win for losing, as she BARELY squeeze out of her insane predicaments by the skin of her teeth.  At least until she starts "hearing voices," and as ditzy as she can easily be, she isn't crazy.  Who - or what - is this weird voice that keeps encouraging and taking to her?  And why does this very oblivious, ditzy, "queen of bad luck" seemingly begin to have unusual experiences and fortune?   For only that voice seems to truly know what's going on, understand her, and her unusual turn for good luck.
